Giberg AG is a Swiss luxury company specializing in the manufacture of exclusive jewelry. They attach great importance to sustainability and are a member of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC).
The existing e-commerce system was neither functionally nor visually up to date. A lack of information architecture made conversion difficult, and the design and media quality did not meet the demands of the high-quality products.
From the idea to the solution - what the new system really needs
The aim was to increase online sales, reach international customers and make the brand a digital experience. At the same time, the product range was to be expanded and the retail channel strengthened.
Structuring corporate goals and requirements
An initial scoping session and recurring workshops with the project team were used to identify key requirements and translate them into use cases. This also involved incorporating the perspective of future users. External experts - from graphics to product illustration - were involved at an early stage in order to create a holistic picture.
Lively and dynamic specification
The requirements were documented in a jointly accessible system. This specification is not a static document, but a living and adaptable one. Thanks to a GAP analysis and the early target image of the system architecture, fundamental decisions could be made on a sound basis - with a view to future integrations and extensions.
Concept with substance - creating a well thought-out overall system
Structure before design: product data as the foundation
The basis of every good e-commerce platform is a clean data structure. It determines how products can be found, compared and configured. For the Customizer (product configurator) in particular, price logic, variants, dependencies and 3D representations had to be precisely defined. A clear structure for product data and configurable elements was created in close coordination with Giberg.
Tangible concept: prototype as a shared image
Based on the data structure, the page architecture was built as a clickable prototype in Figma. This allowed everyone involved to experience the future system, provide feedback and efficiently discuss navigation and user guidance. This step avoided misunderstandings and created clarity.
Individual look & feel on a technical basis
An existing Shopify theme was evaluated on a technical and design level. It met the necessary requirements, but had to be extended for the 3D configurator. Targeted UI design resulted in a solution that was both functionally and aesthetically convincing and could be seamlessly integrated into the theme.

From plan to platform - implementation in two focused stages
The implementation was carried out in phases in order to go online early, gain experience and enable initial sales.
Phase 1: Sales launch as a prelude to scaling
The basic platform was set up on Shopify: including product data import, categorization and ordering processes. Special attention was paid to the visual presentation. High-quality photos and videos were integrated to bring the brand's claim to life digitally.
Phase 2: The 3D configurator is created
The second step was to develop our own Customizer. Existing solutions were not sufficient to implement Giberg's wide range of variants and visual requirements. The new configurator is based on Shopify product data and was developed mobile-first. It is live today - have fun trying it out:)

Long-term thinking - the platform grows with you
The long-term roadmap based on the GAP analysis lays the foundation for further growth. We see great potential in automation and the connection of peripheral systems - from ERP to CRM. The e-commerce platform itself is also being further developed. The next steps have been defined: Giberg is thinking digitally about the big picture - and we are accompanying it along the way.
Thanksgiving (es Chränzli winde)
We would like to thank Andreas Altmann and Zino Spinedi for their partnership, trust and strategic clarity during the project. It was a pleasure to develop this digital milestone together.
