When complexity demands stability
Theexisting system provided by the IT vendor had room for improvement—particularly in terms of stability, product data quality, and user-friendliness of the interface. These weaknesses posed challenges for Businesscom's B2B customers. It quickly became clear that sound advice and a clear strategy were needed to build a sustainable, stable system.
Moving forward with a clear goal
It was an ambitious project that was implemented at Businesscom in collaboration with Raptus and other partners. The task: to stabilize an existing system and at the same time introduce a modern, high-performance product information management system (PIM) that would sustainably improve the company's data structure and simplify future processes.

A new foundation: stabilization and architecture
Takeover and stabilization of the existing system
The initial discussions and analyses quickly showed that the existing system had to be stabilized in the short term in order to guarantee ongoing operations.
This is where Raptus came into play. With a clear focus on stability and continuity, we took over the existing system and ensured that operations could continue without interruption.
New system architecture and integration
But that was not all. Together with Businesscom and its ERP partner, intensive work was carried out on a new, future-proof system architecture. This included not only the existing e-commerce system, but also all relevant peripheral systems. Every step was carefully planned and executed to ensure smooth integration of the systems.
Bringing order to chaos: data analysis and PIM introduction
Analysis and structuring of product data
However, before a new system was set up, the existing product data had to be thoroughly analyzed and structured. This task was of central importance, as the product data could only be used efficiently later on with a clean and well thought-out data structure. Each field was carefully positioned and defined to ensure optimal organization and usability of the data.
Configuration and connection of the PIM system
With a solid database, it was finally possible to configure the PIM system optimally and connect it seamlessly to the peripheral systems, such as the ERP system. The product data was manually transferred to the new PIM system step by step and further enriched - an important milestone in the project, but only the beginning.

Overcoming borders: Enlargement and centralization
Integration of marketplaces and other channels
The next big step was to link the PIM system with various sales channels. This included marketplaces such as Galaxus and Brack as well as systems from Businesscom's customers. In addition, the existing B2B e-commerce system was replaced by a new solution from Raptus and also connected to the PIM system.
Centralization through specialized interfaces
To avoid redundant efforts, a specialized system was used that centralizes the various interfaces and links all relevant systems together like a connecting ring. Raptus worked successfully with another Businesscom partner to implement this innovative solution.

Ongoing support and optimization
Even after the successful completion of the implementation, the collaboration does not end. Raptus continues to support Businesscom in the optimization and preparation of structured product data in order to continuously improve data quality.
In addition, Businesscom's marketing department has individual access to the product data in order to create catalogs and other media in a targeted manner.
This means that Businesscom is ideally equipped for the future and can fully benefit from the numerous advantages of the new PIM system.
