The Hotel Schönegg in Zermatt is a family-run hotel with history, charm and vision - in the truest sense of the word. Now run by the third generation, it offers its guests genuine hospitality, fine cuisine and an incomparable view of the Matterhorn. To ensure that these qualities are also visible digitally, we were asked to design the new website - from conception to implementation with Webflow.
What the Schönegg needs - and how we found out
The existing website was getting on in years - both visually and functionally. At the same time, the Schönegg team had already made important decisions: New systems for bookings and vouchers had been evaluated and were ready for integration. The internal marketing manager was also motivated to take on more responsibility for website maintenance.
The aim was to make sensible use of this new starting point and transform it into a modern website - with a clear structure, independent presentation of the various operating areas (Hotel, Restaurant Saveurs, Bar Uncorked, Infinity Terrace, Infinity Spa) and a high-quality image and text language that suits the hotel.
In a compact concept phase, the requirements were systematically recorded and set out in a clear structural concept. Initial wireframes helped to clarify the navigation and to weight content correctly. At the same time, a new tone of voice tailored to Schönegg was created, combining alpine elegance with down-to-earthness.

A design that calls for hospitality
Several mood boards were developed for the visual concept, depicting different styles - from modern-warm to fine-organic to darkmode. In a joint comparison, a favorite quickly emerged: a modern, warm and high-quality aesthetic with plenty of room for images, authentic colors and subtle typography.
Based on the chosen style, the UI design was created for the first sample pages - including the homepage, hotel overview and room detail pages. The design placed particular emphasis on making the Schönegg's atmosphere digitally tangible without being overloaded.
The design steps were coordinated iteratively - with a clear goal: an appearance that feels like a natural extension of the physical house. Modern, but not cool. Clear, but not sterile. And with plenty of space for the things that make Schönegg what it is.

Technology that thinks for itself - and makes everyday life easier
The technical implementation was carried out with Webflow. The basis for this was the Relume Design System - a comprehensive component library that supports us in efficient and clean development. The Webflow site was built using a mixture of existing Relume components and modules developed specifically for Hotel Schönegg. The result is a flexible, expandable foundation that also meets the specific requirements of the hotel.
Functions such as the booking tool, digital menus, table reservations and the webcam have been integrated directly into the website. These integrations not only offer convenience for guests, but also ensure efficient internal processes.
In a final training session, the handling of the Webflow editor was taught in a practical manner. The final phase - from beta testing to go-live - was carried out in close coordination and with short feedback loops.
Live - and ready for the next digital summit
The new website is up and running: clearly structured, technically cleanly implemented and visually to the point. More importantly, the hotel team can now operate and develop the website independently - without dependency, but with plenty of potential for future expansion.
The collaboration with the Schönegg team was characterized by openness, mutual trust and clear ideas. The result speaks for itself: a digital presence that is just as inviting as a visit on site.
